I’ve recently put the finishing touches to the design and build of a website and blog for a fellow LayMyHatter who owns and runs Bajo COPETTE. Thomas knows a fair bit about WordPress having been using it on WordPress.com, but decided that he needed a professional website design & build with a luxury feel to fully complement his luxury gite business.
Wordpress website and blog for Basse Copette
The site uses a bespoke WordPress theme, with background wallpaper and random image header ensuring that new visitors fully experience the beautiful interior of the properties via the on-site photography.
Additional features include:
- Horizontal page navigation with sub pages as drop down
- Search Engine Optimisation (training by Gite Guru, implementation by Thomas) including SEO url
- Google docs based contact form
- Multiple availability calendars using Google Calendar
- Google location map
- Google analytics
- Cloud hosting
It’s been a really interesting project, which additionally involved porting an existing website and blog from WordPress.com. Además, as Thomas was proficient in a lot of aspects of page and post creation and editing, I’ve been able to leave most of that to him, freeing myself up to concentrate on the design, information architecture, build and technical implementation.
Within 3 days of putting the site live, the index page was in Google and the site was page 1 on Google for generic search terms both Thomas and I were surprised by.
It’s been a pleasure to work with Thomas on this project, we’ve both worked hard to turn the whole site around within less than a week.
