Just added… Skype me widget

If you’re a Skype user and want to give other Skypers a free way of calling you directly from your web site, you can add a ‘click to Skype me’ box to your WordPress sidebar (see mine on the right). It’s dead simple and anything you can do to cut the costs of international calls for your prospects is likely to encourage them to call you. Here’s how you add the button:

Go to this page, enter your Skype name, select the button you want for your sidebar, and then copy the html code at the bottom of the page.

Now go to the widgets area of your WordPress admin, and add a ‘text’ box to your sidebar. Click on ‘edit’ on the text box, and paste your html code into the big bit at the bottom. Put some explanatory text in the top box (such as ‘click to Skype me’) and then click on ‘done’ and ‘save’ at the bottom of the sidebar widgets list. Don’t forget you can re-order your sidebar widgets any time by clicking and dragging them, but you must click on ‘save’ at the bottom when you’ve done this.

Now visit your site, and hey presto (hopefully), your widget should be right there in your sidebar.

UPDATE: the very next day, I got a call with a lead for a website from the US using Skype. Bingo!
