Welcome to Gite Guru

Welcome to the Gite Guru web site. I’m Dave, and i’m launching this site to help gite and cottage owners in France to market their properties for rental online. The site will grow organically as i add articles and blog posts with handy hints and tips for getting your gite online and in the gite-renting public’s gaze.

With over 11 years of internet marketing and web design experience, I can confidently say i know a thing or two about the subject and i’m happy to share that knowledge with you, for free. If you’re interested in knowing more about me, my experience, and what i now do for a living, check out the ‘about’ section of the site. Hopefully having spent most of my career teaching clients and employees about the internet, you’ll find i can explain things in laymans terms without too much ‘geek-speak’.

Whilst you’re here, sign up for my free blog newsletter at the top of the page, in which i’ll be sharing hints, tips, advice and useful things i’ve found on my internet travels. I respect your privacy and this is the only reason I will use your email address. And don’t forget to bookmark this site (handy hint #1: hold down Ctrl on your keyboard, or the Apple key if you’re on a Mac, and hit the letter ‘D’ on your keyboard to bookmark a site… try it now!), as I intend to continue to develop and add to it on a regular basis.

Here’s a few of the things i’m planning on covering in the coming weeks and months, if there’s anything else you’d like me to cover, make a suggestion in the comments below, or email me using the contact form and i’ll consider it.

  • why do i need a web site for my rental property?
  • choosing domain name (s)
  • buying domain names
  • hosting
  • building a site
  • SEO & SEM
  • social bookmarking
  • Link building
  • blogging
  • email marketing
  • use of photography
  • google maps
  • directories
  • paid links
  • reciprocal linking
  • video
  • configuring professional email
  • making web forms
  • translations
  • Analytics

Finally, this site is a blog. The idea of blogs is that you join in the discussion by posting comments (although there are many other benefits to blogging, more on that later). So don’t be shy, pitch in with ideas, feedback and comments on anything I post. I do know a lot, but i don’t know everything, so feel free to get involved and share your knowledge with me and other gite owners out there. The more everyone gives, the more useful information there will be to share and improve your businesses.

A bientot!
